Dear readers,
Today, we’re excited to announce two new offerings. The first is our updated American History collection. The second is a membership experience we call "The Letter Club."
An Update To Our American History Collection
This summer, based on years of feedback, we retooled our American History collection to make it more engaging, more educational, and more fun.
What did we change?
First, instead of an ever-changing selection of our newest letters, we picked fifty-two specific letters to tell the story of American history from 1776 to 1960.
By doing so, we were able to curate the collection as a whole, to include a perfect mix of famous figures and events from a variety of time periods.
This collection includes fewer "deep cuts" and more of the history you read about in school. Think less "Ice King of New York," more King George III.
As a member of this collection, you'll receive letters about the American Revolution, the Civil War, The Industrial Revolution, World War I, Women's Suffrage, World War II, Civil Rights, The Space Race, and more.
Among the people you’ll receive letters from (if you order the full year) are George Washington, Theodore Roosevelt, John J. Pershing, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and Thurgood Marshall. You can read a more detailed list of figures here and events and eras here.
This change should make the American History collection more interesting for casual history buffs, and more useful for educators and students in honors and AP US History classes.
We made one more big change: In place of monthly themes, we're introducing a new concept called "Variety Every Week."
Over the years, many of you have reached out to say that you were ready for a new theme, two to three letters into the current theme. If you're not interested in aviation, four letters on the birth of aviation can get tedious.
That's why, instead, this collection switches topics and eras from week to week. You'll never be able to guess who your next letter is from. This surprise will keep Letterjoy fresh and exciting for you week after week.
Plus, this change has allowed us to cover more topics within our one-year calendar than our old model would have allowed.
The updated American History collection is available in three, six, and twelve-month packages starting today.
The Letter Club
"But Michael, I liked monthly themes and "deep cuts". I'm a long-time member and I've already received many of the letters that would be in the new American history collection."
Don't worry. For our long-time loyal readers, we've got something new for you too. Introducing The Letter Club.
This new membership offers all of the benefits of our "old" American History collection (themes, new letters, etc) and some new benefits too:
First, as a subscriber to the Letter Club, you'll save 10% on your letters vs our one-time package pricing and 15% on purchases of additional packages for friends and family.
Second, you'll be able to switch between any of our "topic" offerings as often as you'd like. Want to try out our writing collection? Go ahead. Want some military history? Let us know.
Third, you'll have exclusive access to our newest archival finds, including letters that will not appear again in any of our future collections.
You can see a comparison of the Letter Club and the updated American History collection in the chart at the bottom of this announcement.
So, what’s changing for you?
Most existing members will be unaffected by today's changes. There are a few minor (positive) exceptions:
First, active members of the old American History collection can switch to the new collection if they'd like.
Members with an active auto-renewing subscription will receive all of the benefits of the curator's club, including the 15% discount on additional purchases and the ability to change topics. The name of their plan may change on their next receipt, but the pricing will stay the same.
Aside from the above, you shouldn't notice any difference in your experience in the near future.
We think that both of these announcements will be great for customers, but we’re here to answer your questions. You can reach our support team at Letterjoy.co/support or via email.
